In Marvel's All New X-Men the original team of teenage mutants, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Angel, Beast, and Iceman travel into the future to fight alongside their modern-day counterparts. In the leaked pages to the upcoming 40th issue, fans discovered that Bobby Drake/Iceman is gay.
While he's confused, because the modern day Iceman is straight, he finds comfort in psychic Jean Grey, who discovered his secret with her powers.
X-Men: Days of Future Past (hitting theaters Friday) has a cast bigger than Game of Thrones. With over 20 mutants spanning multiple generations, you should probably sit back and catch up on the biggest names in the X-Universe.
Fortunately, Sony has provided us with these quick character shorts.
We've known for a while that Fox has been courting Channing Tatum to star as Gambit in their ever-growing X-Men franchise, and now it's confirmed. Producer Lauren Shuler Donner had this to say at Monday Night's Days of Future Past premiere:
And now, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting when we'll first see the Magic Mike star flinging explosive cards, in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse. Soon after, audiences will be treated to a Gambit stand-alone film which is still in the very early stages of development.
Personally I feel that seeing the iconic 90's X-Man rubbing elbows with young Magneto and Professor X will be a little weird, but he's the type of character that will play both sides in the mutant debate. Where do you think Gambit will fit in?
X-Men Days of Future Past producer, Lauren Shuler Donner is talking about the next step in the X-Men franchise. They've already announced plans for X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016 and another Wolverine in 2017, but now they're finally continuing what all of comic fans had hoped since the first Wolverine standalone: X-Men Spinoffs.
There was a regime [at the studio] that didn't see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we're going to do right by it... I'd like to do Gambit. I'd like to do Deadpool. We'll see. There's a lot of really great characters."
While those are some great names, first on the docket might be Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. She's one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood right now, and Mystique has always been a fan favorite (for two obvious reasons).
While I would personally love to see a Kitty Pryde and Wolverine movie, that ain't going to happen. What about you?
