Do you want reboots? Because this is how you get reboots?

The enormous recycling center that is Hollywood is at it again as it eyes a move towards updating the 1962 film King Kong vs. Godzilla for today's discernible audiences.

Based probably off the critical and financial success of last year's Godzilla reboot, movie executives are probably looking to put that boot on a new foot and have a clash of the titans that's not Clash of the Titans.

Deadline Hollywood got the exclusive:

In a movie move that portends a clash of giant monsters, Legendary Pictures' Thomas Tull is moving his untitled Skull Island King Kong film to Warner Bros. This is being done to unite the property with Legendary's other giant franchise, Godzilla. In what would be a pretty epic pairing, the Godzilla sequel that is in the works will be followed by a movie that pits the giant ape versus the giant fire breathing reptile. I'm told this is happening very quickly with moves going all the way to Japan, where Godzilla rights holder Toho is based.

The last one gave us some great gifs, so maybe we should hope for more of those at least.

Remember when Sean Connery turned down Lord of the Rings to be the lead in a horrible adaptaion of Alan Moore's graphic novel The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? The movie flopped so hard, Connery chose to retire from acting altogether, and now fox wants to give it another go.

League follows a group of characters famous from 19th Century British sci-fi/fantasy novels as they team up to take on the most villainous threats. Alan Quartermain, The Invisible Man, Captain Nemo, Doctor Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, and a full vampire version of Mina Harker round out the cast.

Fox tried to produce a TV series in 2013, but it never went beyond the pilot. While it feels like they're just hoping to hold onto the movie rights a little bit longer, let's hope Fox can make something decent from the property this time around.

It's time to scream for joy! Lionsgate is going to make a Power Rangers movie!

The movie studio is partnering with Saban Brands to import the martial arts team to the silver screen. While there is no news about cast, director or anything concrete, Haim Saban did say this:

They [Lionsgate] have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from 'The Hunger Games' to 'Twilight' and 'Divergent,." In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we're confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own.
Will Lionsgate continue the Power Rangers legacy by creating an action movie for kids, or will the new movie(s) embrace a little more grit to appeal to nostalgic adult audiences? By comparing it to "Hunger Games", I'm guessing the latter.

As long as they keep the Green Ranger, who cares?

Here's the first trailer for José Padilha's remake/reboot of the Paul Verhoeven cult classic. With Michael Keaton, Gary Oldman and Samuel L Jackson, the cast is top notch, but can it be Robocop without the menacing Kurtwood Smith?
