Marisa Tomei is Marvel's First Choice For Aunt May, How Does She Stack Up to Her Predecessors

Another incarnation of Spider-Man is coming in 2017, and Marvel is sharing the creative control alongside Sony. With Tom Holland playing the youngest version of Peter Parker to date, this new Spidey will more than likely remain in High School for a while.

So, it's no surprise that Marvel is looking for a different kind of Aunt May. Variety is reporting that Marisa Tomei is the first choice, but is she too young? Let's do the math:

Ladies and germs, the next teenage white guy to take up the mantle of Peter Parker is none other than nineteen year old Tom Holland. A relative unknown, Holland hails from the UK and has been in such films as The Impossible and TV mini-series Wolf Hall. The film will be directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car), and is slated for release on July 28, 2017.

It looks like Holland has already been practicing for stunts on the film:

Before you read this and watch the video, you might want to move somewhere your coworkers can't see; you're in for some feels.

This "SpiderDad" fan film was made to honor the memory of the filmmaker's son, Jayden, who passed away last Christmas due to a brain tumor.  After Jayden was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumor at just five years old, Jayden's father began work on a Spider-Man fan film with the intention of having a grand premiere event for his son.  Unfortunately, Jayden didn't get to see that happen, but his father finished the film in his honor:

The SpiderDad Film was inspired by my son Jayden who sadly lost his 18 month battle at Christmas to a Grade 4 Brain Stem Tumor called, Glyoblastoma Multi-Forme. Before he died, we began filming with the full intention of giving Jayden his very own Premiere at home, with drinks and popcorn. Just like at the cinema. I was very passionate about making this look and feel as real as possible for our little super hero. Even to the finest details of webbing effects, stunts, the Spiderman suit and generally providing a feel good energy about the film.

Sadly, the little fighter became very ill, and his very own Premiere wasn’t able to happen. It became a dedication project to the bravest, and most courageous little boy we know, always willing to give a smile and thumbs up at even the most difficult of times. In addition, we wanted this to also raise awareness and money for the charity who gave our family so much support whilst caring for Jayden, as well as the continued after care for our entire family and his big sister Ella.

Now here's where you come in: the money earned from views and ads on this video will go directly to Naomi House, a UK Children's Hospice Center.  You don't have to donate any cash, just watch the video, and share, tweet, or whatever else you do on social media so others can see it too.  And hand me a tissue, somebody's been cutting onions in here.

While Marvel has yet to confirm the rumor, Latino Review is reporting that veteran child actor, Asa Butterfield (Hugo, Ender's Game) will take up the web in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.

In case you didn't know, Sony has made a deal with Marvel Studios to allow New York's resident web-slinger into the MCU, and subsequently The Avengers. The deal in place will bring Spidey into an upcoming Marvel movie (supposedly Captain America: Civil War) before getting a solo movie of his own, co-produced by Marvel and Sony in 2017. Unfortunately, the Andrew Garfield run as Peter Parker was canceled when this new deal was struck.

Marvel's going young, hiring the 18-year-old actor to play a High School aged Parker.

It's been four years since the internet decided that Community alum, Donald Glover, should play Spider-Man in the film reboot. Andrew Garfield inevitably won the role, but when Disney needed a voice to play the Ultimate Spider-Man, teen Miles Morales, they knew just where to turn.

So there it is, folks. Donald Glover is your new Spider-Man. Let's hope he's better than Garfield, but that shouldn't be too hard.

With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 putting up mediocre box office numbers earlier this fall, fans were worried that their promised Sinister Six movie might not go through. Rest easy, Spidey fans, Columbia just announced that Sinister Six will happen earlier than expected: November 11, 2016.

In response to Spidey's waning numbers, Columbia has pushed back The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to sometime in 2018. It looks like they're hoping a gaggle of villains (the anit-Avengers) might revitalize the franchise.

This delay has left a prime movie real estate slot open for July 10, 2016, which Columbia is filling with an adaptation of Uncharted, a popular Naughty Dog video game about thief and treasure hunter, Nathan Drake.

At least The Amazing Spider-Man 2 doesn't have three villains... Oh, wait...
